2013 marked the 100th
anniversary of the founding of Ward-Belmont School, when Ward Seminary for
Young Ladies and Belmont College for Young Women merged in 1913. Ward-Belmont
was largely a junior college for young women, although it also included a music
conservatory, a Preparatory School, and the School of Arts and Dancing.
Ward-Belmont was in existence until 1951 when it was purchased by the Tennessee
Baptist Convention.
