Get to know Bunch Library's new Music Librarian, Lina Terjesen!
1. Where are you from?
I’m originally from Basking Ridge, New Jersey. Most recently, I was the Music Cataloging Librarian at Gettysburg College, which is my alma mater. Before that, I worked as an intern for the Seamen’s Church Institute, and before that, I was an intern in the Acquisitions and Processing Department of the Performing Arts Division of the Library of Congress.
2. What excites you about being a new member of the Belmont community?
What excites me is the level of talent of the students at Belmont… they are some of the most talented students I’ve ever met. I look forward to serving them and helping them throughout their academic careers. I’m also excited about developing relationships with the faculty and staff and helping them out in their classrooms with their own research and their students’ research as much as I can.
3. What are your interests and hobbies?
I love knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and Norwegian Hardanger embroidery. I also really like to bake.
4. What are a few fun facts that students might want to know about you?
I’m totally obsessed with Mumford and Sons. One of my favorite foods is spam. I very well might have Viking blood. I’m not your grandmother’s librarian.
5. What new ideas do you have in store for the Music Library?
• An updated New Books Display
• Popular Media finding a new home, with new display shelves and new artwork, in the Listening Viewing Center
• Making the Music Library more inviting
• Incorporating new marketing strategies, including a Facebook page
• Ultimately making the Music Library a space where people want to come study and work, and making sure that students across the campus are aware of some of the great resources we have up here
Bunch Library is very excited to have Lina as our latest addition, and she's already shaking things up. Come by the Music Library on the third floor and say hello!
