Bunch's New Live Stream Begins With #pupsandpopsBU

We are excited to announce that Lila now has a Ustream channel!  Bunch Library will use the Ustream platform to allow users to:
  • have live video access to events
  • get to know their librarians through video as well as live chat
  • view a growing, free video archive of all the goings-on at Bunch
Now, we know you all are looking forward to our annual Puppies and Popsicles event Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 on the lawn in front of the library building.  So, we thought:  What better way to kick off our UStream channel than with a live stream of #pupsandpopsBU ?  Even if you're going to the event, join in the chat to vote for your favorite pup or to ask the staff questions.

Of course, we would also love for you to be active about #pupsandpopsBU on any other social media networks you are a part of.  Anything posted with the above hashtag will be reposted in the library's feed, assuming we have a presence there.

We look forward to bringing you both the amazing Puppies and Popsicles event and our inaugural live stream via Ustream!

On Display

It's interactive!

February is Black History Month, and to mark the occasion there is a new display up on the first floor of Bunch Library.  The display features highlights of African-American music from 1950-present using books and media found in our collection.  A row of QR codes that link to YouTube videos take you through a music history lesson from 1950-present.  Grab your smart phone and scan away!

(URLs are provided if you do not have barcode scanning capabilities on your phone)

We asked, and you responded in a BIG way!  Last Friday, Bunch librarians spent some time sharing treats and asking you what you love the most about Bunch Library.  Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by the table to show your library love!

2013 marked the 100th anniversary of the founding of Ward-Belmont School, when Ward Seminary for Young Ladies and Belmont College for Young Women merged in 1913. Ward-Belmont was largely a junior college for young women, although it also included a music conservatory, a Preparatory School, and the School of Arts and Dancing. Ward-Belmont was in existence until 1951 when it was purchased by the Tennessee Baptist Convention.

Although much has changed since then, you might recognize some of the images below. Stop by Special Collections in Bunch Library to see a special display that includes photos and memorabilia from the Ward-Belmont days.

Browzine: A New Way to Browse and Keep Up With Journals

Bunch Library now offers the Browzine app for iPads and other tablets.

With Browzine, you can browse the library's collection of electronic journals and "subscribe" to journals you select for your Browzine bookshelf.  The app will send you push notifications when new issues are published.   The result is an easy and familiar way to browse, read and monitor scholarly journals across the disciplines.

Watch this video to learn more about how Browzine works, or visit our Browzine Research Guide to learn  more about Browzine!

The BrowZine app is available as a free download for iPad, Android, or Kindle Fire tablet.

When you open BrowZine for the first time, you will see a list of schools.
  1. Select Belmont University.
  2. Enter your myBelmont username and password.
  3. Select your subject area(s) and start browsing!
